Big Data Resources

The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) contains anonymised longitudinal medical records of more than 14.6 million patients registered from more than 700 contributing general practices in the UK. The CPRD covers approximately 7% of the UK population and is representative of the UK population in terms of age and gender. More information about the CPRD can be found here

The University of Leicester has a Multi-Study Licence agreement with the Secretary of State for Health to use the CPRD, linked with Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) and mortality data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Under this agreement, researchers can request CPRD linked data (e.g. Cancer database) through the Diabetes Research Centre at University of Leicester.

We offer three workpackages, which are normally only available to University of Leicester staff.

Workpackage 1: Approvals, full analysis and report
Workpackage 2: Full analysis and report
Workpackage 3: Extract data set only

We also undertake feasibility counts.
