Professor Kamlesh Khunti

Kamlesh Khunti is Professor of Primary Care Diabetes and Vascular Medicine at University of Leicester and Co-Director of the Leicester Diabetes Centre with Professor Melanie Davies. As well as being Director of Leicester Real World Evidence Unit, he is also Director of the newly-funded Applied Health Research and Care East Midlands and the Centre for Black and Minority Ethnic Health.
Kamlesh adds clinical and epidemiological expertise to the real world evidence studies at Leicester Real World Evidence Unit. He has a particular interest in safety and efficacy studies, pharmacoepidemiology and pragmatic trials. He is an NIHR Senior Investigator and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and is currently an adviser to the Department of Health and has chaired a number of guidelines including with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Department of Health. He is Secretary of the Primary Care Study Group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. He has won numerous awards both nationally and internationally.
